ASIAQ – Greenland Survey has an open position within Greenland Hydrology and Climate

Asiaq offers a permanent position in our international research group in the Hydrology, Climate and Environment (HKM) department. The position will play an integral role in newly initiated research projects, including ICELINK, funded under the EU Horizon programme, as well as supporting ongoing research and monitoring activities.

You have experience with several of the following:

  • Hydrological / cryospheric modelling on catchment scale
  • Atmospheric / climate model outputs
  • Collection, processing and archiving in-situ observations within hydrology and climate
  • Validation of earth observation and model output with a range of in-situ datasets
  • Advanced programming skills and processing of large data amounts and database handling for data management and task automation
  • Arctic field work experience

Education:

MSc. as a minimum or Ph.D. in arctic hydrology, climate, cryosphere or another related field. The position will be adapted to fit the applicant’s background, skills and experience.

Personality traits and skills:

Asiaq is looking for a proficient, engaging and respectful team-player with the ability to build and maintain strong relationships with both colleagues, collaborators and external stakeholders. Good written and oral communication skills in English are essential. Knowledge of Greenlandic culture is an advantage.

Asiaq:

Asiaq is Greenland's official data holder and authority on data relating to the non-living environment. Read more about Asiaq and HKM here: www.asiaq.gl. The primary focus of the HKM department is on researching and monitoring Greenland’s hydrology, climate and cryosphere. There are currently 11 employees in HKM.

Unfurnished staff accommodation may be assigned to the position in accordance with the applicable regulations. Rent and deposit are paid according to the applicable rules for the designated accommodation. The staff accommodation is linked to the employment relationship and must be vacated when the employment relationship ends.
