Are you our new GIS and geodata specialist?
Asiaq is looking for an experienced GIS and geodata specialist to work with, among other things, the development and operation of the NunaGIS portal (www.nunagis.gl) and the underlying ArcGIS Enterprise system. As of 1 January 2025, Asiaqs has taken over responsibility for the nationwide NunaGIS portal. We are therefore looking for a dedicated and competent employee who can contribute to ensuring that the NunaGIS portal is a functional and user-friendly solution for society, and who can assist stakeholders in their work with data.
About NunaGIS and your role
NunaGIS is the official map and geodata portal for Greenland, and the purpose of the portal is to collect and display socially relevant geodata from various authorities. As a GIS and geodata specialist, you will be responsible for further developing, optimizing and securing the daily operation of the NunaGIS portal and the underlying data system, which will be a central part of Asiaq's work with geodata. You will work closely with both internal and external stakeholders to develop solutions that meet the needs of authorities, businesses and society for up-to-date and accurate geographical data.
An important goal for the development of the portal is to make it easier and more manageable for both companies and authorities, and that it should contain data from several relevant authorities. An important function will be to ensure that the data is up-to-date and that there is metadata attached to the data, so that it becomes easy to get an overview of who is the authoritative authority for which data, what the data contains and how it can be used.
It is also important that you are flexible and want to take on other tasks within the department if needed. We work in a dynamic and interdisciplinary environment, where collaboration across the department is crucial, and where we are committed to having a trusting and inclusive working environment.
Tasks
- Development and maintenance of the NunaGIS portal, including content, usability and functionality.
- Develop and maintain our online map services for displaying spatial data.
- Collaborate with authorities, municipalities and other stakeholders to ensure correct and updated data in the system.
- Operation, development, and documentation of the underlying ArcGIS Enterprise system.
- Secure metadata so users can easily get an overview and understand data
- Support and advice to users on the use of NunaGIS and associated geodata.
- Be open to supporting colleagues in other areas of work where your expertise and efforts are needed.
Qualifications
- Relevant education or experience in geography, geoinformatics, GIS, IT or a related field.
- Experience with GIS software and webGIS solutions (preferably ESRI).
- Experience with the development and operation of geoinformation systems, preferably in a public context.
- The ability to work independently and as part of an interdisciplinary team.
- It is an advantage if you are in good physical shape and want to participate in fieldwork in Arctic conditions.
- B driver's license is a requirement, as we will have to drive in connection with the work tasks.
- Good communication skills both written and oral, preferably in Greenlandic, English and Danish.
